To secure America's future, Madison County Democrats believe that…

1. Government should protect the LIFE and LIBERTY of all citizens and provide for a JUST social order. 

2.  Government should PROTECT  ITS CITIZENS from domestic and foreign danger.  We support a strong military, Homeland Security, and Foreign Aid budgets that provide for a secure America-but we oppose reckless war-making that kills our heroic soldiers, depletes our national coffers, and cripples our relations with other countries.

3. Government policy should support JOB CREATION and the EMPLOYMENT of American workers. 

4. American citizens have a right to BASIC HEALTH CARE.  

5.  All citizens deserve a  LIVING WAGE that provides a comfortable living.

6. EDUCATION is a fundamental right and is the cornerstone of our Democracy and the foundation for a secure social, economic, and political future. 

7.  Our PUBLIC LANDS are part of our public trust and should not be sold,  but protected for future generations to enjoy.

8.  Water , Soil and Air are crucial to our survival. It is important that a balance be maintained so that future generations will have access to clean water, soil and air. 

 9.  The current 9 trillion dollar NATIONAL DEBT - approximately $30,000 for every man, woman, and child in America - threatens to bankrupt our country.  We believe in sound fiscal management that doesn't threaten our children's future.

10.   The current private method of FINANCING ELECTION CAMPAIGNS is a national scandal.  In NC (2004) ninety percent (90%) of campaign contributions were contributed by one percent (1%) of the population.  Fore the sake of continued democracy, we must support a system of public financing for our state and national elections.
